Scholarships Available: An Ohio ACCA Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established with generous contributions in memory of Ed Broerman by his family and friends.   Two $500.00 scholarships will be awarded by July 31 to lucky applicants who are Ohio residents who have demonstrated their interest in the HVACR industry and are pursuing a career related to the mechanical trades at vocational or trade schools or college.  The applicant must be sponsored by an ACCA Ohio member.  Deadline for the application to be filed is June 15.    Download the application form here.

Legislation would provide harsher penalties for unlicensed contractors  - HB444 introduced 1/23/08. Unlicensed construction contractors soon may face tougher penalties if one Ohio lawmaker has his way.

State Rep. Jimmy Stewart, R-Albany, worked closely with the Ohio Department of Commerce to draft the legislation, introduced Jan. 23, to increase the penalties for doing business as a contractor sans state license. The bill, HB 444, is a big step toward his stated goal of eliminating all unlicensed contractor activity. Read more here. . .
